Universal Atonement

Universal Atonement

  • Romans 11:33 – God’s teaching cannot always be reconciled with human reasoning.

The Doctrine of Election cannot be used Biblically to teach that Jesus loved and atoned for only the saved.  Neither can it be used Biblically to teach that it is once saved always saved.

I.   God’s Love

          A. God Atone for the Sins of Everyone.

          B. If Limited atonement is correct then:

  1. If you love someone in your family and they fall away from faith you must say that God never loved.
  2. You loved them and wanted them to be saved but God did not love them and want them to be saved. Then humans have more love than God.

II.  God’s Invitations And Warnings Are Sincere.

  • Ezekiel 33:11 (18:23, 32)
  • Matthew 23:37 – God is sincere His call!
  • John 3:16
  • Acts 7:51 “How can they resist something that was never really there?”
  • 1 Timothy 2:4-6
  • 2 Peter 3:9

1. How Many People Does he want to saved?

2. How Many People Does He want to be lost?

III. Jesus Atoned for Even Those Who Are Lost.

  • 1 Corinthians 8:11 ‘Your Brother Is destroyed.”
  • 1 John 2:2 – How much of the World? The Whole World.

For LIMITED Atonement to be correct then:

  • All does not mean All.
  • Nobody does not mean nobody.
  • Everybody does not mean everybody
  • World does not mean world
  • Whole Does Not Mean whole.
  • Desire does not really mean desire
  • Resist Does Not Mean Resist.

IV. Wants All To Be Saved.

  • John 1:29;   3:16 - World is used for all creation in its context and how John uses it else were.

                        1.    Context John 1:9; 10,

V. Jesus & Paul Teach You Can Have Faith And Then Fall Away.

It is not "Once Saved Always Saved."

  • Luke 8:12-13 12 “The ones along the path are those who have heard. Then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. (ESV)

A. The Apostle Paul Did really Believe, but even He had to be Careful, so that he was not disqualified.

  • 1 Corinthians 9:27 " But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”  (ESV)
  • 1 Corinthians 15:2 “and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. (ESV)

B.  Romans 8:33-39 must be taken in context with Romans 11:22-24.

  1. Nothing outside of you will push or snatch you away from God, but if you yourself want to leave God you certainly can with certain results.
  2. You can be cut off.
  3.  Must hold to what one has.  How can one hold to it if you never had it?  Must remain. How can one remain if one has never been there in the first place?  Jesus teachings': John 15:6;  Romans 11:22-24; Hebrews 3: 6,14: Galatians 5:4

                 C. Names Can be blotted Out From the Book of Life!

  • Exodus 32:33
  • Psalm 69:28-29.

For something to be blotted out it had to be written there in the first place.

III. MORE Passages that prove it is NOT ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED”

  • John 15:1-6
  • Matthew 24:9-13
  • Mark 13:13
  • 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
  • I Corinthians 15:2
  • 2 Timothy 2:17-19
  • Hebrews 3:1,6,14; 10:26
